Family Photos

The entire Graves-Funke, Funke and Schenck Family
For Christmas this year we bought Dan's parents a family photo shoot! The entire family came out to their house and we brought in a wonder photographer - Ileia McCall to do photos. They turned out awesome!

Merry Christmas!

This year we had a wonderful Christmas! A few weeks before Christmas I hosted a "Candy Cane Tutu" party for several of my girlfriends. We got together and made tutu's for our kids. Alma got a beautiful red and white candy cane striped tutu with a "gumdrop" onesie to match. I had so much fun doing it that I made one for my niece Audrey as well! Dan finally got the computer of his dreams that he has been talking about for years, so he should be happy for the next four or five Christmas mornings to come. We bought Hadrian a handsome three piece suit for his first Christmas, and he was so incredibly handsome! The kids wore matching pajamas on Christmas morning and spent more time playing with wrapping paper and boxes than toys. The one big hit was Alma's new ball pit. We bought 200 plastic balls and filled up our pack-n-play. Alma will stay in that thing for hours, which is a beautiful thing! We spent Christmas Eve at home as a family and went to visit Dan's grandparents on Christmas Day. It was a lovely way to end a wonderful year.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving my parents decided to drive up North and join us. It is the first time I have ever cooked a big dinner for a lot of people and it went really well (with help from my Mom, of course.) My parents got to enjoy lots of snuggles with Alma and Hadrian. My Mom and I did some quality after-holiday shopping, and we all went swimming for an afternoon. We also drove down to Lewiston to enjoy the Christmas lights. Over-all, it was a very enjoyable Thanksgiving at home.

Pre-Historic Trick-or-Treaters!

Pebbles and Bam Bam
This year for Halloween I decided to make costumes myself. We really wanted to dress the kids up in a theme, and since they are pretty close to the same size we decided they should be Pebbles and Bam Bam from the Flintstones cartoon. I made Alma a leopard print tutu, whipped up a loin cloth for Hadrian, and dressed things up with a few bones. Of course, they each got a little stuffed dinosaur to carry as well. I would call this a success!

Fall at the Graves-Funke House

Alma loves to wear her pink cowgirl boots while watching Sesame Street.

This Fall we were a very busy household. After Alma got her casts off we were trying to make up for lost fun-time and started lots of fun projects with the kids. Alma started taking horseback riding lessons from her cousin Lacey and Great-Uncle Brian. She really enjoyed being on the horse and was always trying to make poor Shadow go faster by kicking him in the head.

A cowgirl in the making.
Hadrian started to crawl at 6 months, and at 7 months he started using Alma's walker to cruise around the house. We can't get over how fast he is growing up, it seems like we replace his wardrobe on a bi-weekly basis. He loves to play in the Kitchen while we cook, and enjoys the small kitchen play set we keep for the kids. Mostly he bangs on the pots and pans. Hadrian also really enjoys to go on long walks. He is very rarely a cranky baby, but whenever he starts to fuss we just strap him into the carrier and head out the door and he smiles the entire time.

Ready for a brisk Fall walk.
This year our apple harvest was out of control! We were begging all of our friends and family to come and pick apples and we gave away more bins than we can remember. We also took several bins to local food banks. Our dear friends, the Jarolimek family, helped us with the harvest and then we had all of our friends over to make Apple Cider for our second annual Apple Mash. Good times were had by all! But then I spend what seemed like an eternity preserving fruit . . . pie filling, apple butter, pear honey, and enough applesauce to feed my kids for an entire year.

Alma is the Queen of the Apples!
We also started going to the Pullman City Pool on Friday nights. It is such an awesome facility! They have a very shallow (18 inch) heated pool for the kids and both Alma and Hadrian liked the freedom to scoot around and splash. They also have a giant bins of bath tub toys that kids are free to play with, so it is really like having a giant bathtub! Alma gets so excited when we arrive that we have to hold her down and wrestle her into her swim suit because she wants to jump in the pool right away.

One of Alma's new favorite activities is to watch Mommy bake. She really loves to watch the Kitchen Aid mixer go round and round, and Hadrian loves to eat warm oatmeal cookies right out of the oven.

County Fair 2011

It's just not Fall without a trip to the County Fair. This was Hadrian's first trip, and Alma's first year to ride the rides. She was only tall enough for the Merry-Go-Round but we had a great time anyway.
