Merry Christmas 2010!

Christmas day we spent the morning at home discovering all the wonders of wrapping paper with Alma. She really wasn't very interested in the actual gifts - she mostly wanted to eat the paper. Eventually we were able to entice her into playing with her new kitchen and dishes, a ball popper, and various other fun new toys. Uncle Nate came over to open presents with us, and we enjoyed an awesome breakfast of Belgian Waffle's in the new waffle maker that Santa brought.

In the afternoon we joined the Funke family for Christmas at Dan's grandparents house. It was a lot of fun - almost the entire family was there, we were only missing three people! Alma got to play with her cousin Audrey, spent lots of time playing ball with great-grandpa Fred, and snuggling with her godfather, Uncle Matt.

Christmas Eve 2010

This year was our first Christmas in our Genesee house. We decided to stay home as a family, and had a very lovely day. We spent most of the day cooking yummy Christmas treats, went on a long wintery walk, and bottled our Apple Cider! Our friends, the Jarolimek family, joined us for a very simple steak dinner and chocolate fondue. We let Daddy open his present from Alma early since I knew he would have a lot of fun playing with it, and his new remote control helicopter was a total hit. It entertained the whole family all afternoon. Playing Santa was a lot of fun this year! We even got to fill my brother Nate's stocking because he was planning to spend Christmas morning with us.

My parents sent Alma a very special present - a copy of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas that is read out loud on a recording by my Dad. My Dad reading us this story is a big family tradition, and now one that my kids can enjoy from far away.

Dan and Alma were equally surprised and excited to open this gift. I think this is one of my favorite pictures - EVER. The look on both their faces is priceless, but that look on Alma's face is hilarious.
