This year for Memorial Day weekend we decided to take a much needed break from all this house buying/selling/moving stress and go visit our friends on Guemes Island. We left Friday after work (Alma travels well at night) and drove to Seattle. We spent the night at a lovely hotel downtown and since Dan gets a corporate rate they upgraded us to a Jacuzzi room. We thought it would be comical to take pictures of Alma bathing in a giant tub. Saturday morning we had brunch with my friend Melissa, who lives in Seattle, and then went for a walk in Volunteer Park. You can climb to the top of the old water tower and look out at the whole of Seattle. It is higher than the Space Needle.
Guemes Island!
Two of our good friends, Bob and Heidi, recently moved from Crested Butte, CO back to the pacific northwest. They are living on Guemes Island which is one of the many San Juan Islands. It only takes about five minutes by ferry to get there from Anacortes. It's a beautiful little Island, and we were excited to visit because they have been telling us about it for years. It rained most of the time, but that didn't matter we still had fun. It was great to see good friends and visit a new place.

Hunting for Agate's on the beach.
Alma has a new habit of pulling her socks off with her teeth and chewing on them.
Happy girl!
Bob and Heidi's beautiful cabin.
A VERY happy girl.
Pike Place Market!
On our way home from Guemes Island we stopped back in Seattle to take a break from driving and hang out at Pike Place with my dear friend Melissa. It was a really good time, and we even took a picture of Alma with the pig
